How you care for your skin will affect how you age!
I’m discovering that one of the biggest oversights to an effective skincare
regimen is –
Sunscreen! Sunscreen! Sunscreen!
I’m not talking about the drug store/department store SPF kind of sunscreen, I’m talking about medical grade broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF.
SPF stands for sun protection factor and only measures how well the sunscreen deflects UVB rays. However, UVB is not the only type of light that can harm your skin. While UVB rays can burn your skin (yikes and ouch), UVA rays can prematurely age your skin causing wrinkling and age spots (no thanks)!
Side Note: Too much exposure to UVA or UVB rays can cause skin cancer (serious business)!
Plastic Surgeon Birmingham AL – Using Medical Grade Products
Medical grade broad-spectrum sunscreen is designed to protect you from both.
At Cotter Plastic Surgery we carry two tinted medical grade broad-spectrum sunscreens:
1. Intellishade by Revision Skincare
2. Total Defense & Repair by Skin Medica
Both are designed to defend your skin against the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays while supporting the skin’s ability to restore itself.
Personal Note: Over a decade ago I began my daily skin care regimen, but it wasn’t until earlier this year (it’s never too late) that I added a tinted broad-spectrum sunscreen into my daily morning regimen. I love the sheer color it provides, the improvement I’ve noticed AND knowing that I am protecting my skin against future sun damage.
Don’t let the cooler temperatures and cloudy days fool you, the sun’s harmful rays are still hard at work; add a broad-spectrum sunscreen to your daily regimen today!!
